PORTFOLIO
Jenni Denekas has pursued artistic expression throughout her educational and professional journeys: Jenni was a studio art major in college and she has woven her artistic practice into her work as a communications professional and as a filmmaker. Plus, she just makes damn good art. Mostly nature-inspired, depicting wildlife, landscapes, and our interconnected world.
Oregon Birds
February 2024 – Present.
Watercolor pens (Ooly and Tombow) and Micron pen on Bristol board and watercolor paper.
Each piece is 4.125 x 4.125 inches (10.4775 x 10.4775 cm) unless otherwise noted.
This series was sparked by winter birding on Sauvie Island in early 2024, when the artist set the goal of drawing a bird a month throughout the year based on her personal observations in nature. Some months were more productive than others, but she exceeded her goal by finishing 2024 with more than 12 bird illustrations and the series continues today. It has become a record of her experiences in Oregon’s varied landscapes.
A selection of these works have been displayed at the Morrison Street Minigallery in Southeast Portland (Jan. 2025) and at the HUMAN:NATURE show at ADX Portland (Feb. 2025).
Every. Single. Bird. Chronologically.
Oregon Coast
